Madeleine Connolly, MSc.Systemic /Family Psychotherapy; BA(hons)Soc.Sc./NQSW;BA.Mont.ED.;BA.ECCE., CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Regulating Body), F.T.A.I., I.C.P.

I have over thirty years’ experience of offering therapeutic support to children and their parents who attend the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. In carrying out assessments and proposing solutions, I look at problem behaviours from a variety of perspectives within the family and work therapeutically with parents and children to improve their relationships and quality of life.

I do so by offering an empathetic and collaborative space to work through problems towards solutions.

I also have specialist experience in working in the Early Years Sector supporting parents whose children experience separation anxiety, ADHD or social skills difficulties.

I offer counselling support and parent education with the aim of improving parent-child, peer and sibling relationships. I apply a family systems approach to arrive at a greater understanding of how patterns of communication and family interactions develop around problem behaviours.

I also facilitate specialist work in the following areas:

  • Parenting when separated
  • Couples Counselling
  • Child-to-parent-violence (challenging behaviours) / Non-violent resistance
  • Ascend - Living with Autism.
